Catching up with the American Muscle litter

We've seen some great things out of these pups.  Most important to all of our owners, of course, is that they are in love with their Griffs!

Big News!!

At Broken Bow Kennels we take great pride in producing a top shelf Wirehaired Pointing Griffon.  One that holds true to the standards and expectations set forth by Eduard Korthals in his original development of the breed.  It is this dedication to the breed that caused us to set our sights higher for our next addition to the family.  We are proud to introduce Nutz von der hohen Ley!

Knox, as he's known around the house, comes from Ulrike van Elten's kennel in central Germany.  He comes from powerhouse lines with old school style and drive.  He will be the perfect compliment to our kennel and the future of our program.

Breeding Announcement

We are thrilled to announce the breeding of Igor and Shai.  Igor is a hard charging duck and goose hunter from Quebec with a perfect score Utility test and Canadian and American bench championships.  Shai is a fast working field dog.  She devours open country hours at a time, then comes home and curls up with the kids.  She is also a finished Utility dog with a Prize III.

Playing Catch Up

It's incredible to think that these kids are heading to their new homes already!  I've gotten so far behind that I'm not even going to attempt to get it all.  Here are a few puppy pics to keep you all wanting more.

While incredibly adorable, these monsters are a handful.  We started with group walks up through the grouse woods, but would inevitably lose one that was feeling spry.  So they walk one or two at a time now.   They are heading to new homes all over the country this week and we can't wait to watch their potential unfold.

Last week we started helping them along the way.  First thing in the morning while they are hungry and their senses heightened, we spread a couple cups of kibble through the grass.  This gets them using their noses and bumps the timeframe to a true scent point up.

Now we get to go from a lot of dogs creating work to one dog creating LOTS of work.  Shai has a NAVHDA Utility Test in August and two legs of her AKC Senior Hunter in September.  Since we gave up six weeks of training to the pups, it's go time now!  We'll be doing two-a-days, two to three times a week until we're perfect.  Well, nearly perfect will do!

We'll be introducing our puppies new families this weekend!  Congratulations!!!

Another Week Down!

It's hard to believe that these monsters are 5 weeks already!  They have put in another perfect week.  Everyone is gaining good weight on solid food and they have found the best ways to get into trouble.  The are very skilled at finding the tiniest pieces of garbage in the yard and hauling them around.  They also love naps in the crawl space under the porch.  This week they were introduced to feathers and gunfire.  We make the loud noises a part of everyday activities making sure that pups don't see it as anything other than background noise.  Their personalities have really started to show also.  What an incredible litter of Wirehaired Pointing Griffons!!!

Griffons in the Grass

It doesn't quite have the same ring as the gorilla thing, but it's infinitely cuter!!  We took the pups out for their first taste of the sunshine and the feel of the grass.  At first all they did was close their eyes, turn their faces to the sun and sit there.  ALL OF THEM!! It was the most entertaining thing I've seen in a while and they weren't even moving.  Eventually, they decided to do a little wandering.  So here they are, just playing.

American Muscle Week 3

It's amazing to me to watch how much the pups are changing from week to week.  The Wirehaired Pointing Griffon is a wonderful dog and these guys are each such little fireballs.

This is Charger.  He has been the first for everything.  He was the first to open his eyes, the first to walk and he is the most adventurous of all.

Cuda is a brute.  He is consistently the biggest of all.

Diesel is also a big guy.  He has an awesome, dark face.

This is Hemi.  He is such a stud!  He has a solid brown face and long body just like his dad.

Nitro is by far the boys' favorite.  He gets hauled around all day, making him our most socialized dog.

Shelby is obviously the princess.  We are thrilled to add her to our program and watch her excel.

Torc is my favorite.  He is handsome and white and an absolute charmer.

Turbo is our other lightweight.  He is going to make someone very happy hunting the desert birds.
